I currently have about 3-4 hundred young Red Jewels and would like to know if there is a place locally I can sell them. They range from about 3/4" to about 1 1/4", and the parents have just spawned another batch of about 300 fry. Anyone who is interested these are for local pick-up only please I don't know how to ship them.

Here it a photo taken about 6-8 weeks ago of mom and dad with the first batch of fry sorry nothing new. the fry in the upper rt. corner, female is a little dull in color I guess its because she just had 300 babies

very nice looking fish! i want to get a new tank and start keeping some of my red jewel fry. my LFS offerd to give me 25 cents a peice for them! right now the fry are just nibble treats for my other fish.

Axeman, it might be worth revisiting your LFS about price. I also have sold some to a local FS on trade @ $1 ea.

i learned the longer you keep fry and let them grow out the more you will get for them.. i kept seven blue cobalt fry until they were about 1-1.5" and got a 25 dollar store credit. also, you have to think about supply and demand when selling the red jewels if they are commonly found in the area you will probably get offered less than if they were a rarer species that is less often seen in your parts... just a thought

not bad, what size does he buy them at? how long do you leave the parents with the fry. at soem point i imagine that the parents will eat them. mine never get to that point.

I'm still looking for someone local to buy some of my Red Jewels, some of them are nearly 2" now and the parents are getting busy again if you know what I mean

they are not overly common here in my area at least. reagular or blue jewel cichlids are very common but the red jewels arnt. i have seen them in only one lfs around here and i have visited all tof them from ontario to san bernardino, riverside etc!
