I've had this 20 gal set up for about 2 or 3 weeks now , and my ammonia levels are between 1.0-2.0 ppm

My nitrite is also around 0.3-0.8 , how long untill i should see my ammonia drop ?

I hve been told by people do very very small water changes to keep the levels down for cycling with fish , but have also been told not to do any water changes as it will slow down the cycle ?

what to do :?

Watch your fish, they will tell you. If they are showing issues one can always try some salt to help with the nitrite.

It sounds like you should be out of the ammonia part rather quickly.

agree, be patient, i know it is hard. if your fish will handle it let it go, the more you do water changes the longer it will take. but if the levels are going to kill your fish then by all means do a small W/C. does anyone recomend any of the addatives that nuetralize some of the ammonia and nitrite? it is supposed to bind with the ammonia and nitrite to make it less toxic to the fish but not affect the formation of the bio filter.
