Mermaid, I took your advice on the Victorian. I was looking today, mainly to buy some more rock (which I did, and BTW, it motivated that other electric yellow who had been a bit of a lazy bum  ) but I couldn't help but look to see what they had. I looked that their display tank and they had some Astatotilapia latifasciata in there and they were in full color. I tried to bribe them into letting me take him home, but they declined. Fortunately they had a few for sale though and I brought one of them home instead. He's already a decent sized fellah at 3-4", his color hasn't come in yet but I'm excited for that to happen soon! :D

i hate to break this to you, but you have to go back and get a couple more--if he hasn't colored up, how do you know that he is male and not female? also, many victorians will never show their colors if there are no conspecifics in the tank. so go back before they're all gone and get some more. if they are able to sex the fish for you, then get a male and at least 2 females(counting the one that you already have.)...you won't be sorry!
