Hello

I am a week through the cycling process of my tank. The PH level right now is over 7.5
I have a PH down solution, when should I put it in to lower the PH? Do I have to do it now or at the end of cycling process?

Thanks

I'd wait. I wouldn't add anything to alter your final water chemistry until you know for sure what it's going to be. My pH crashed overnight when I was cycling, and if you depress the pH to start with, you may get some kind of catastrophic witches brew.

Plus, I don't know what fish you intedn to keep, but if they need soft water, you're still adding to the GH by adding ions even if you're dropping the overall pH. At least that's what I've read.

thanks for your reply. I will be keeping american cichlids. Severum, Geophagus, Sajica, Keyholes....

I will have to wait in that case. Thanks for your help

I just think it's easier to wait for what you're starting with to stabilize before you start to play with it.
