This may only apply to klutzes like me. Yesterday I was testing the water in my tank. I have one of those little master kits with the glass test tubes and bottles of test chemicals (Aquarium Pharmecuticals, Inc). The test tubes are very unstable when standing upright, so I have gotten into a habit of gripping them firmly when I pick them up. I was holding the test tube near the top, and it collapsed! I spent the next half hour picking little pieces of glass out of the tips of my thumb and first two fingers with tweezers, as well as getting them to stop bleeding long enough to apply bandages. Just a heads-up for anyone interested.

OoOoOouch!! :(
You hadn't placed any if the chemicals into the water yet I hope? If so I'd go to the doctor just to check it out, not trying to scare anyone but I don't imagine you'd really want any of that stuff in your bloodstream.
*Slowly places the test tube on the table... Hands shaking in fear of breaking one too...

I'm not sure if you're really sympathetic or mocking me  I'll guarandangtee ya it won't happen again! I screw up frequently but seldom the same thing twice. No, no chemicals. I was just bringing a tube of water from the tank to test when it happened. Speaking of which.....I know this should be on another forum, but.....
I think I have too many fish in my tank. Even tho I am doing a weekly 25% change, my nitrite level is a bit too high (.025). Any suggestions for a product to lower it like Amquel lowers ammonia. Just til I get my 125 set up and that won't be til Christmas.
Thanks for the sympathy, Sam
P.S.
I made up some great new words when it happened, but I can't print them here.

mbuniac--we are definitely sympathetic--just having a little fun with you at the same time. i don't remember how long your tank's been set up--so why don't you ask again with more information in the other forum?

That's okay, I'm used to it, I'm married. My wife says that occasional abuse is good for me, it keeps me in line.
Thanks, Sam

I've got plastic test kit viles, But my thermometers are flimsy. You know the cheap ones, cost about $3 with the green suction cup on them. I've had one break all to bits trying to get the, well after I took it out for a while the suction cup dehydrated and was stuck on, so I had to apply a little pressure to it and the glass thermometer crumbleed in my hand. I was lucky with none in my hand though. Sorry to hear about your misfortunes "spelling?" though.

I think he might have been wondering if his spelling of "misfortunes" was correct. Like many people would write it as "misfortunes (sp?)".
Or I might be completely (sp?) wrong?

Now see, you're lucky there. I was the smart, little, kid who kept putting his hand on the pretty, bright RED stove-top burner to see if it wouldn't burn this time

I always assume I'm correct no matter what I'm doing. It's part of my sickness.

I solved my problem (well....one of them anyway). I took a piece of 1"X3" and drilled holes in it just a hair larger than the test tubes. Now I can't know 'em over even if I try. Believe me sooner or later I'll try.

You might want to still give the docter a call. You sure you still don't have any glass in you...was there any poison from last time in the glass? Just to be on the safe side :)

I kept rinsing the blood away while I was picking the glass out, then I rinsed it well with hydrogen peroxide, applied antibiotic ointment and bandaged them. They seem to be healing okay.
Thanks for your concern, Sam
