I have a 45 gallon mixed cichlid tank and I keep reading very good things about Purigen. I want to get some tomorrow at my LFS but my question is I have two HOB filters on my tank. I have an Aquaclear 110 and a Penguin Bio Wheel 350. I want to get rid of the carbon in my filters and just use Purigen. How would I use the purigen in the Penguin Bio Wheel Filter? I know how to use the Purigen in the Aquaclear. I'll just take out the carbon and just use the Purigen in a media bag and the sponge.

Thanks.....

Howie

You really don't need it in both.....

for the penguin filters I have found a DIY filter thing. that take "sachets" instead of the one piece unit.
thefires one you buy, comes with 2-4 of these sachets, and a bio foam.
I have been using these as a base work for my DIY filter.
2 strips of foam, and a little baggie of purigen (sometimes)
if folds together like a sandwich maker and done.
I have backed off of my use of the stuff. as it is honestly "unnessesary. but who knows.

petsmart sells one of the things northerblades is talking about, i believe it is a topfin product, and has carbon/amonia remover in the starter filter inserts.
