Hey everyone, first post here.
I have a 50g long that I build into a Malawi tank just recently. I used to keep Tropicals in it until I decided to change it over.
Anyway, my problem is with lighting. I had a dual 48" light bar with the tropicals that worked great. When I tired to use the same bar with the Malawis (sans plants), an algae bloom occured. I now swapped to my other light bar, which is a 24" dual. Only problem is that it doesn't light the tank or show color half as well as the 48" bar (duh). I am assuming I am going to need a single 48" bar... or is there something I can do to prevent the alage bloom with the dual? I would prefer to not have to buy another bar if I can help it. Thanks :)
