have a 125 gallon tank with a 75 gallon under gravel filter (with 2 120 gph power heads) so i have about 20 inches between them. I was wondering if it i can add sand to my tank between the undergravel filters or not. or will the filter want to pull the sand through and make the water cloudy? Has anyone tried this? I also have a tetra 300 HOB filter help.

I wouldnt reccomend it. It is too thick to work and it would just be as good as no filter. I reccomend canister or bio-wheel filters.

Not recommended!

But then again I don't reccomend UGF's for use with cichlids either!

Since cichlids dig alot, they will make the UGF useless. It needs to stay under the gravel in order for it do its job. Once exposed it doesn't do any filtering. Plus alot of crap gets caught under there.

Sand can and most likely will, get sucked into the powerhead destroy your powerheads.
