hi im new to this stuff but i purchased a red tiger oscar last week bout 2 inches long he was fine now he hides and doesnt move around alot was wondering if they r timid at first or just something wrong ,,, plus i dont seem to see him eat much at all!!!!
plz any help sorry if its a dumb question :( :rolleyes:

it's not a dumb question...how big is the tank, what are the water parameters(ph,nitrates,etc) , any hiding places in tank, what are you feeding? answering those questions will help us to help you.

ummm the tank is 3 ft by 1.5 ft and water par dunno some hiding spots and feed blood worms ???

How long has the tank been set-up? You may have not let it cycle enough.
If you don't know what "cycle" is, please let us know.

bout 3 weeks now its been runnig but i think hes coming good came out for a feed last nite so all is looking good he might have been stressed or something (i hope)

Did you let him acclimate to the water before you put him in because when you just drop them in they'll stress out a bit and find a place to hide but will eventually come out when it get's used to it's perimeters.

well just popped back to let u know hes goin great guns now !!!!!!
hes eating (heaps ) and is there anything else i can feed him hes on a diet of blood worms atm :) thanx for ur help ppl :)

I'd find a nice cichlid pellet or flake and feed that as a staple saving the bloodworms for a every-other-day treat. He should have a varied but meaty diet. Plus, buying pellet and flake is a little less expensive than buying just bloodworms.
