Okay, Matt. Since you didn't send me any limax for my birthday, I had to buy my own. I forked out a whopping $3.50 each for these guys (2M:3F)

Do they look like the real deal? They've been in the quaranteen tank for a few hours, so they're still a bit stressed.

Pardon the streaky leleupi...

I'm changing water later this afternoon. That usually gets his bile up for a couple hours. I can try to get some then. But when he's colored up, he's usually a terror and hard to photograph...

I've seen Haplochromis limax "Lake George" and Haplochromis limax "Red Chest" tossed around.
I'm reasonably confident about the ID of my fish.
This is what Dave's Rare fish is selling as a limax "red chest". (listed as Red Chest, ID'ed in photo as "Lake George").

I'm going to ask people at the club about them. I think someone mentioned that they were getting some. They said from Florida, so I'm assuming they mean Old World.
That red chest doesn't really resemble my fish a whole lot in coloration, but they do appear to share a similar mouth structure.
I feel a VTH (Victoria Taxa Headache) coming on...

Kevin,
That is definitely not the Hap Limax from Lake George as I have the George and Matt has my stock as well. I am not sure but I herd that the Limax cf redchest as I think that is what you have there could possibly be from a river but there is no info I can pull up on them. I have another group of the Limax that is bright red that might be a Lake Edward and different in body shape which that makes I question as if it Limax at all. However it still is know that Hap Limax is distributed from both Lake George and Edward and no mention of that wide of different color morphs and or body shape.
Matt are you interested in swapping fry to keep the blood line strong on both Limax and the Chromogynos when I get them to breed again sense I know they are both of my stock?

PM me when you get more of them. Mine are constantly breeding.
Need more of a heads-up with the chromogynos, i only get small clutches from my females - 10 or so at a time.

vinny, i got my fish(the parents of your fish) from matt, and he got his from africancichlidfanatic. what was the reason that the guy gave for thinking that the fish were not limax? aside from saying that he has kept them before.
