He's looking very good to me ... and he looks like a bonifide rufus, too. Mine seemed to be unusually slow growing. I had a lot of trouble keeping the females alive and I've heard that same comment from others. Some have told me to expect them to be mean little buggers, but I did not find that to be true in my 180 gallon tank. Good luck, Thomas. This species is in high demand and very hard to find.

Will you be at the ACA this week?

Kevin

Cool and thanks for your input. Coming from you that means a lot. I know they are in high demand as I had quite a few emails on them but at the moment I only have two people on the list to whom is going to get them when I am certain that they are right. I do have fry growing but there is some deformity in there batch of fry I which I am not to happy on that when I know for the most part that I am most likely the only one breeding them. I hope there is some out there I might some day find some new blood to keep them going. Also hell yes they are mean.

I would vary much like to go to the ACA but I most likely will not be able to for my car is in need of work and I cant afford to fix it right now.

If you want to limit who can reply to your posts, then you probably should start your own forum or use pm's.

No offence there jonah but the thing is that I don’t care for people that put in the post opinions that have never worked with the species as if they know when they do not. If you know and are familiar with the species then your opinion and information is valued. If not then the person in my opinion is just confusing and adding to the mess in identifying and correct information and that is what is to be avoided. It is important that the correct info is posted. If it is not correct info or identification this should be corrected so we can preserve the right and pure species existence on this earth instead of all of the increasing number of hybrids going around. Otherwise the next thing you know is that the true strain and its beauty is gone for ever. I don’t know how to be more clear then that.

Well I am bumming here. My one and only female rufus from my breeders had died the other day when she had lodged her self under a rock under the sand during a water change wile she was holding a big mouth full of eggs on what would have been her third successful batch of fry. Well now I only have two batches that I am raising but the thing is I believe I am getting almost all males from them I think. Well this gives me the opportunity to see if the fry will come out looking right as I did question the parents if they are right in the first place. The thing is I owe two people these offspring when I get them so this is going to be awhile longer before they get them I think.

Kevin, keep the rufus going and let me know when you might have some available as I would like to do some comparing to the ones I have ok? Please?

Great!

Kevin. how many males do you have floating around? I would like to get a few if I can to do some comparison to the other ones and if and hope to have a few females to put with the new blood. This could vary well be the only shot to have some of these floating around in the country as I know no one else that has them and breeding them, or if someone might they may not know what they are and how rare they are.
