Im thinking about redoing my 20 gallon. I want to replace the gravel with sand. Im thinking about that pool filter sand. Any other cheap sand suggestions? I plan to put a female Convict and a male Firemouth and try to breed them. Thanks for your help.

Silica sand blasting sand is what I use. Cleans the easiest out of everything I've tried. PFS is brown/tan, where as the Silica Sand I use is closer to an off white color.

A 20 gallon is not big enough for an adult FM, and unless you need feeders there is no reason to be TRYING to create hybrids. It would be very irresponsible to ever let them leave your own tanks where they could be passed off to someone as a pure convict or FM.

Can those 2 even successfully spawn?
