I have a 125 gallon tank with 275 pounds of lava rock - an awesome setup! I have eight yellow labs and a large electric blue male, another electric blue II male. All get along well and are not agressive. I bought five Melanochromus Auratus females and they were so mean they went back to the pet store a few days later. I'm looking for some bright colored fish (no plain color as it would go against my color theme) that will go well with these fish and are peaceful. (Orange, red, blue, green, purple... I don't think I need any more yellow). I like the colors of the Pseudotropheus Demasoni but I hear they are mean as the devil. Can I put a bunch of male peakcock cichids together or will they fight? I hear they are peaceful and the females are not that brightly colored. I'm really not interested in breeding and I may have my hands full with yellow lab babies at some point. Any suggestions would be welcome!!

I would recommend Ps. Acei since you have a big tank. They aren't too aggressive (mine aren't at least) and are very active swimmers. They can get pretty big, but 125 should be well suited for them.

There are many "Haps" you could consider. Everyone here knows that I applaude the greatness of the Placidochromis Phenochilus which you can see in my gallery: O'S FISH (http://www.cichlidgallery.com/view_album.php?set_albumName=Overaweds-Nyassa-Starrs)

The phenos would love a nice big tank like that. In fact I think you could not make a bad decision with any "non-mbuna"

If bright orange yellow color is what you desire then look for an Albino Red Eureka (which is also on my site) Yellow Peacocks (Sunshines) are gorgeous as well. I just got a female one of those and hope to breed that line. I am partial to Red Shoulder Peacocks as well.

I have heard of tanks with male Peacocks that get along fine. Remember sometimes, its not the species but the individual. You can't force a fish to get along with another if he doesn't like them. The most aggresive Peacocks are the Jacobs.

Crytocara moorii are one of my favorites, they would also go well with the labs. peaceful and interesting to watch, get a minimum of three.

Doing a quick search on Moorii, they seem to get 12 inches long! That is a huge fish, especially for a 125 gallon tank full of rock. They would get too big to swim through the rockwork. I want something smaller, perhaps a max of six inches. Just purchased a male aulonocara stuartgranti - a beautiful fish! Still looking for more suggestions as to what can go with this plus two electric blues and 8 yellow labs (looking good so far!)

I would say u could add a haplochromis venustus or maybe a frontosa if ur looin for fish that are gonna get big and colorful.

I started the 125g as an all male tank, electric yellow, ahli, lethrinops, german red, o.b. peacock, benga, azueres, and one Victorian hap. flameback and Tanganyikan tret, brichardi, leluepi, cylindricus etc...
This is just what I had there's a number of combinations you could use, a lot of it is trial and error

I have never seen a C. moorii reach 12". Mine were @8" at 5 yrs.

I have seen them reach 10" but that was at Disney's Animal Kingdom's massive display pool. I just Like them I guess and a 125 could handle them.

I also like the Lethrinops intermedius mentioned above, the green adds a lot of contrast to any Rift tank.

I have peacocks in with my electric yellows, and they get along just fine. Im not sure exactly what type thay are, but were sold to me as "Tanzanian" Peacocks. They look really good with the yellows. They have a bright blue head, and yellow and pale red spots on the anal fins, and a whitish stripe on the head.
