lartely I have been feeling the urge to go back to gravel in my tanks. Sand is such a pain sometimes (filters etc) and my americans don't seem to like to dig as much with it. What is every body elses thoughts on it? What does everbody use

I use a thin layer of gravel except in my 40 housing a midas he likes to make craters in the tank lol:dance:

While I like the initial look of sand, it has to many drawbacks for me and I will not put it in any more tanks. The sand has a tendency to grow algae, it shows dirt and debris, and there's always the added risk to you filters. It makes it much harder and more tedious to clean the tank. I think I will stick with small diameter, natural colored gravel going forward.
