In case anybody else is interested, we're okay after the tornadoes came through this area the past couple of days. The Thursday tornado passed us to the South and the Friday night tornado passed us on the North. My factory was spared too, although many of my co-workers had homes/vehicles damaged and a few of them have spouses that no longer have places to work at for awhile (GM plant). Amazingly, it appears that nobody was killed in either twister.

It sounded more like rolling thunder than a freight train. The lightning was pretty cool though, it was like a strobe light.

That might not have sounded right. I posted the topic because Boilermaker had sent me a PM asking about it. So I thought I'd let everybody know what happened.

Glad to hear you, your family and fish are o.k. Jonah. I have been following the news on these things, but forgot they were so close to you. That must have sent chills up your spine.

Glad you're OK.

I wasn't sure where in OK Mustang is. We missed the tornado ourselves by about 1 to 1 1/2 miles up here in KC. I have to drive through the damage everyday on my way home from work.

Tornados are scary, scary things. Fortunately, they're also not very large (unlike a hurricane).

I didn't know you lived in KC. They've got a good aquarium club up there called Heart of America Aquarium Society. I went to their Spring auction last month. They had a ton of good deals on fish and equipment of all kind. Their next auction/seminar is in October and my club is planning on attending that one too as a group.

Here's their website:

I'd love to get more involved with them, but right now, they meet at the worst possible time. With Thursdays being the only night for my husband and I to get together with our college friends, and 7-10pm being considered late night (as in I'm so tired I'm half dead) for me while I'm teaching 9 months out of the year. I'm hoping that these circumstances will change soon.

I'd love to get involved since I attended a meeting last summer and really enjoyed myself.

Sorry, I forgot about that. Hopefully you can check out the next auction. It should be on a Saturday.

I'd love to; I would have been at the spring one except we already had family commitments that week.
