Nice size tank, but not anywhere near large enough. It should work out well for the cichlids, but your other fish need something much larger. Do you realize that the Redtail cats will easily reach 36" or more? If your shovelnose is a Tiger Shovelnose it will reach a similar size. The Electric catfish will grow to over 2 ft also. You should really take these back to the fish store unless you can pride an aquarium upwards of 700g.

length x width x highth divided by 231= the gallons you tank will hold.

With say a 400g tank your fish woduldn't even be able to turn around due to the dimensions. If it was made with special dimensions to give them more floor space, then thier backs would be out of water. Honestly, 700g would really be pushing it already.

Red tails can easily grow well over an inch per month. So in my opinion, your tank may last a little over 6 more months. Waiting until you have a bunch of huge aquarium fish and then trying to get rid of them wouldn't be very wise though, so I suggest you either get to work on the monster tank or take the fish on back real soon.

You asked a question and I gave you an honest answer. Go ahead and keep a few 3' fish in a little glass box, but don't get smart with me when I tell you its a stupid idea.

Blunt but correct!

Some people will keep asking a question until they get the answer they want!
