I currently have a 50-55 gallon setup with
2 jacks about 6 inches
1 green terror about 3-4 inches
and 2 assorted cichlids about 3-4 inches

My tank is leakey old has a crack in the corner and is on a stand thats seen better days. Im moving out for school at the end of the summer and my family doesnt want to take care of the fish. Ive had them since they were about 1 inch and dont want to get rid of them.

I want to put the 2 jacks in the 40 tall will this work? Is the 40 tall ok for them to be in? I really like them and would hate to see them go.

The other 3 will go in a 30 gallon they use to be in or in the busted up 50. My friend wants the tank but I dont know when she ll come get it.

you're going to run into problems having 2 jacks if they aren't a breeding pair. im not sure of the dimensions of a 40g tall but assuming you have 1m/1f and the tank is over 3ft long you should be ok for the time being.

"assorted" cichlid could mean a lot of things. if you find out what they are you will be able to accomidate them better. especially before you doom them to live in a smaller tank with a GT
