hey guys, i have a farlowella acus and for some reason it keeps on sticking its snout out of the water.I dont think he is sick,he is the only farlowella and he its like a pig.Is he okay????Oh this is also called a twig catfish.thanks for any replies :D

Check your water parameters, it may be uncomfortable, and trying to escape. They also like well-oxygenated water; do you have good circulation?

the perimiters are fine and the tank is well oxigenated.maybe he is just a wierd one?

Anything's possible, I've never kept them myself. I did have some whiptail cats years ago, one specimen in particular lived for about 5-6 years, but they kept their noses down.

I used to have a pleco that would swim upside down for no reason, it wasn't sick. It would do it mostly when I fed the fish and suck up the flakes, never had another one that did that, maybe you just got a weird one like me.

Some f the pleco's are able to use air, as well as their gills, for respiration. Maybe the snout contains something similar to the labyrinthe organ in bettas? It would explain why they have such a long nose...
