I have a tank with a new group of F0 Satanoperca acuticeps. As expected, they are a little shy, and I am wondering if a group of dithers might be good for them. Any recommendations? IF I put anything in with them, I don't want anything that will be too aggressive or competitive.

Thanks :ok:

a good barb a tiger barb to be exact... they are pretty dumb fish, they let things attack them.

The owner of a shop in CT actually keeps 3 of these with some dwarf cichlids in I think a 150. Probably wouldn't be considered dithers though. :D I'm thinking that's the same fish - he referred to them as demon fish?

Are you planning on breeding them?

Demon fish would probably be Satanoperca daemon. Daemon are gorgeous fish (see some posts by Josh_Shilling for some amazing pics), but the acuticeps are less commonly available, and also very striking. Slightly different spot pattern, slightly different head shape, etc.

My primary goal is to keep these alive, but yes, I'm going to work on breeding them, if at all possible.

Drop some pics when it's all together. I'd like to see them.
