Nicaragua or not? [Archive]

We bought this fish and was told it was a Nicaragua Cichlid but it looks a lot different to other Nicaraguas we've seen :? Help!

Very tough to ID with that pic, esp. if it's a very young fish. If I had to guess, I'd almost guess Caquetaia kraussii. Like CFL requested, a shot where the profile can be seen a little better would help. I'm pretty sure it's not a nic, though...but I've been wrong at IDing small fish before. :wink:

I agree that it looks like some type of caquetaia. I am 100% sure it is NOT a nicaraguense.

Well been trying for ages to get a decent pic, now the camera batteries have gone, will try again tomorrow. I got him from a garden centre he was in a tank with salvins (one of which I also got) Will post more pictures tomorrow :)

I agree with fish speaker, from the pic it looks like a juvie Caquetaia kraussi. :)
