I was thinking the same, but was told it was a blue acara by a few people... is there an easy way to tell the difference at that age? It's only about 2" long... pictures of juveniles for both of these fish look the same (and some of the acara pictures are probably actually JD's)

I've got one that is usually almost black, and three other that are more pale... I hope that's one male to 3 females?

I am nowhere near an expert, but we have a Jack and a Blue in the same tank, when we first got them they looked the same but as they have gotten a little older the blue looks exactly like the one in your pic, and the JD looks more like a mature jack...hard to say if i have two of the same or not, they are growing at much different rates and have far different personalities so i am hoping to have a jack and a blue.

Blue acaras really look nothing like jacks ARB so its more likely that the one jack you have that is more mature is a male and the other one that looks like the one posted at top is a female.
