Could a pair of brichardi be kept in a 20long if they were they only fish in there? Also about what sizes do these guys start breeding?

The easy answer is "maybe". I kept a pair in a 20g high for awhile, but the male started roughing her up eventually. I think it might have worked in a 20g long tank. The male was about 4" and the female about 3" when they bred.

That tank size should be ok. Just build plenty of caves and stuff.

Maybe you could get away with 3 in there? 2 females and the male (so he won't bother the one too much.
I would just be sure that the filtration is good and you monitor the levels regularly, especially if you will be keeping fry in the tank when they breed.

I believe brichardi are pair spawning, so an extra female would be an unwelcome trespasser. I had my pair in a 20g high with a pair of brevis and the male brichardi tormented everybody. I eventually moved it to my mbuna tank until I sold the pair at the Kansas City auction.

Well i'm not worried about the water conditions when they start breeding cause i try to do every other day water changes on fry tanks, i was more worried about the aggression. I haven't seen the slightest bit of aggression from either one of them, but they haven't started breeding yet.

Mine were fine with each other too until they started breeding.
