Good luck with your Kenyii, I had nothing but bad luck. My male took a one way trip back to the IFS about a month ago. He bullied and dominated every other fish in the tank (at least until I got an 8" D. compressiceps. I was setting looking at my tank one night and thought, "I have 12 fish and can only see 2! The Kenyii kept all the others in hiding and terrified. My son has one and doesn't have too much trouble with it, so maybe mine was just one of those psychos? Too bad, he was a pretty one, solid bright yellow. LOL

Hey all
I also just got some Kenyi (trio). currently they are in a 45, I want to put some more fish in to help out with the male agression. I put in some danios from my convict tank to see if it would have the same "calming effect" but in 10 mins the Kenyi male had alredy killed one and was trying to work on anouther :( . anyway what should I put in, a few more females? or could I go with some Electric Blue Johanni? if I did that would there be any chance of cross breeding?
Thanks :D

How big are the lombardoi (kenyii) and what sex are they?
If a male and two females, not bad, but if not then add two to three females. He will probably be so busy then that he won't be able to really bother with anyone else. I have 2 electric blue johanni in with them and the lombardoi get much larger than they do, so I might rethink that choice, especially if they will be new additions. Maybe if all the fish could be added at one time during a tank rearrangement it might help displace some aggression. Otherwise, be careful what you add. The lombardoi don't like their territory invaded by outsiders, IME.
My female lombardoi is Tank Queen. She is the second largest fish next to my venustus. Beware!

Thanks a lot guys :D I will be adding some females soon.
To answer Merlyn...It is 1 male 2 females right now and they are about 1.5" - 2" ish. I have a lot of rocks in there now but being a high tank it is kind of a pain to really build up but im working on it :D
Thanks again

So that explains why one of my kenyi is always changing color. in the diffrent shades of light., he is about 1.5 -2in now so that explains alot.
Also, is it ok for them to chew on sand and then spit it out, I think that is OK but i would like to re-assure myself.
P.S. Need to go to library and get some books on them!

Yes yellow = male, bluey purple = female..
it is bext to keep them at around 3 - 4 females for every 1 male... This should stop aggressino as, like the other fella said.. He'll be to busy making little Lombardoi ;) And yes it's alright for your lombardoi to chew on rocks and spit them out. They are just cleaning the rocks. Any other questins. Just ask :)
