Red Devil/Oscar

Well i have 2 Oscars in a 40 Gallon tank and one is about 4.5 Inches and hes crazy but not aggressive at all besides trying to eat my fingers when i fed them lol Anways i have 55 gallon Cichlid tank but I have 2 Midas they arent aggressive at all yet my kenyyi is way more aggressive... Besides the point ive had a 5 Inch Red Devil and I know how they get she tore up a 8 inch Flowerhorn i bought as a tank mate no luck their had to return it to a LFS an hour drive :) anyways 2 Oscars with 1 Red Devil and a Brown and Yellowish Gold Midas good mix or am i an idiot? :) :rofl:

from what i understand, oscars are too mild to be kept with midas cichlids. in any case, your tanks are much too small for cichlids that grow as large as the ones you've got.

Yes, midas are much too agressive for oscars. They usually end up being kept alone, or with a pleco. They will also need a much larger tank, even for just one midas or the two oscars.

So if I bought a 55 Gallon could it house 1 Red Devil Adult?

I would say to go for a 75 for a single red devil just so that there is that extra width for it to turn around.

I would say poet did get a 75, for a male. 55 would be fine for a female.

Alternatively get a 55 3 foot tank that is 18 inches wide. These tanks can house one easiky in my opinion.

As far as the oscar and midas....don't do that to a poor oscar.

Well I think i have a female cause its about 3 inches and it has no bump on its head but the second midas i have does have a bump on its head its about 3/5 inches ;) well thats no prob i have both in a 33 gallon with a divider till about next week ill pick up a 55 gallon for the red devil and see what I can do with the other midas the oscars will be in like a 75 gallon but not till sometime next month thank god i have a job or id have to lose my fish :)

Sorry for considering a Red Devil to be with an Oscar was minformed and misled... on the idea.. anyways I will fix it all soon enough im gonna end up having like 5 tanks but hey thats no prob the more the better until my dad starts yellin at me hehe :)

i think that a 55 could house a single red devil. it might be a female but i wouldnt count on it. even though the red devil is 3 inches with no bump its possible it could get a bump on its head at four inches or five so keep an eye out.
