went to the greater city aquarium society's silent auction/flea market with a couple of fishy friends last night...now that's my kind of party!...i got loads of goodies: a big pile of tfh magazine back issues(from before my subscription started), a five and a half gal, and a 10 gal tank@ 2 bucks apiece, used pumps, an automatic water changer(always wanted one--five bucks!), coral rocks, and even a kitschy(tacky but fun for you non-new yorkers) ceramic palm tree and hut ornament with holes that will make a nice hidey-hole for some lucky holding female hap.:D  :D

getting good cheap stuff is fun, I don't care what anyone says. Esp. the kitschy stuff.
Someday there will be an antique aquarium roadshow on PBS.
"have you placed a value on this rare ceramic Palm Tree?"

I'm taking a road trip up near Kansas City for a fish auction this Saturday. It's about 350 miles each way. :jaw:
Am I hardcore or what? If anybody is in that area their website is www.kcfishclub.org . I'm bringing up some extra texas holey rock pieces.

Here's a picture of the 70+lbs piece, the smaller pieces have more holes. I'd trade it for a stack of FAMA's and a ceramic palm tree.:nyah:

 i have a big shipment of holey rock on the way...if i'd known that you sell it, i'd have gotten it from you! how much is your rock per pound?

I paid about 10 cents a pound, how about you? I figured that since I was driving up there anyway and I doubt if they have it as readily available as down here, I'd offer it up. I don't normally sell anything, it's just extra rock I have.

i paid thirty-five to fifty cents for rubble rock(for rock piles) and up to about 1 dollar for show rocks.:(

jonah, do I see a beautiful in the wall cichild tank with that lovely holey rock in your future?
Seriously, those are some great looking specimens. Wish I could get it around here. I'd like to put it in with the Tangs.
Oh well, the $2.99/lb lace rock will have to do.
