View Full Version : Neon Green terrors
Has anybody seen these things popping up in stores in there area. They are at 3 here. Look really colorful even at 1 inch.
Look like a jack dempsey compared to a blue dempsey.
What is the story with these guys?

You mean the entire fish is neon green? Sounds strange. Maybe a new mutation, hybrid, or newly discovered varainte.
Picture is worth a thousand words. So I bought one.
Remember the fish is only 1 inch. The color is incredible

Very nice!
Welcome to the board, TTman.
There are variants to the Hericthys species that have a brighter coloration. The "escondido" is just a Carpinte collected from another area. So it's possible that it is.
The problem with fish marked as anything "Green Terror" is that their are very few real A. Rivulatus" sold anymore. Most are crossed between some form of the Acara family.
That's a very pretty fish. If you can get anything a bit closer it would be apreciated. I have to do some digginh on that one.

I apologize for bumping up an old topic, but since this one already existed it saves me the trouble of making my own
Any idea where I can grab a couple? No one in my area (Buffalo, NY) seems to have them. That is a beautiful fish and I'd love to grab six or so and grow them out, see how the turn out...Or even just one...
Green Terrors are my favorite fish

I don't know where you would get some. It seems that they are either at the lfs or not. I haven't seen them here anywhere since I picked them up. I have six. I would send you a male, but the border is so brutal about letting fish immigrate. Haha
Anyway they don't dissapoint. I have not had them pair up however.

Well thanks for the thought anyway Rudy. I guess I'll jus thave to keep my eyes open. I work at a LFS and I did see "Royal Green Terrors" on the list once...I ordered one but they ran out before they got to my order....I'll find one somewhere :)
By the way, you wouldnt happen to have any updated pics would you? Your fish should have some size by now...Good luck pairing them up BTW; I got my first batch of eggs at 3 inches, so yours shouldnt be much longer...
Good luck with that Cypherman.
I have seen a Royal green terror sold here as well. They are selectively bred for sure, they are incredible. Big als gets them as they are farmed from Florida apparently. They are not the same as Neons though. They have the same pattern as a normal saum. Just more intense colors.
You never know with selectively bred fish though. They call them a lot of different things. Like hybrids in that way I guess.

I have a 135 gallon tank and i have already ordered 2 green terrors, but i was wondering if i could keep 2 or 3 convicts in there to without them killing each other.
Shouldn't be a problem. Go for it.
it should be fine in a tank at that size.
and i think you can keep a few more things in there also if that is all you have in the 135.
