I added a firemouth to my 65 gallon with 2 o's and 2 jd. They are all juv. with the firemouth the biggest. Wen i added him, they all chased each other. Will they get over it? Nobody was bitten or anything.

firmouths in my opinion are one of the most territorial SA cichlids out there and are little basterds, lol , as long as theres lots of hiding places and theres no real biteing it should be ok, they mostly like to put on a show , and right now your just haveing a territory battle going on, you could try moving some of your decor around to off set the territorys and let them set up new ones. the 1 firemouth i had I took back becouse he chased my other fish around for 2 days straight...

Try to keep them well fed, and provide plenty of cover. When those jd's start putting on size you are probably going to have some problems. You planning on buying more tanks for those fish? The reason I ask is because oscars can reach lengths of 16" so they require a large tank with lots of filtration. At least your fish are juvies right now so you should be set for a while, but keep an eye on those jd's they get really nasty. Good luck with your fish keeping.:)

Lol, no, i do not plan to keep these fish all as adults. I am probably getting rid of the o's and the larger jd over the summer, then adding a jewel and some cory cats. I love those little guys!!! II added driftwood, 2 big pieces, tothe tank, and everybody has 2 or 3 hiding places of their own now. They seem to get along fine, and the firemouth has accepted his spot at the bottom of the heirarchy without much complaint, i am glad this worked out ok!!! The firemouth is absolutely gorgeous, he has neon blue fins!!!! :D :) :D

Yes, firemouths have very nice looking fins, looks like they have some "pearls" like a flowerhorn has in their fins. Glad to see that you already have your plans for you fish already figured out. Good work on providing plenty cover for you cichlids for territory establishment as well as hiding places. Good luck.
