I think the top is a Geophagus braziliensis. I am not sure about the bottom.

Yes the first is a Brasiliensis. Thats Jack Greunendaals fish. He kept trying to sell me that fish and its mate :) He brought a lot of large fish to the show that he just want to sell, LOL. I hope he brings more this year :p

And the second fish is a Stiendachneri. Geophagus that is. That was also a very nice fish. Very large for a Stiendacheri.

Thanks guys. Are those the standard colors of those species, or are these exceptional specimens. They are both fantastic fish, but the Brasiliensis is particularly attractive.

Maybe someday...

I think Geos are bred so frequently and easily that the chances of getting a fish to look close to either is not likely.

I have an F-1 Stiendachneri I posted in the gallery. The parents are wild caught and look very similar to that one in the pic. Maybe even better aside from the female has a mouth that was torn off when it was caught.

geos are definatley one fish that closer to wild caught you get the better they will probably end up.

Check out my f-1. He is only about and inch and is already devloping some serious colr and Steindarchneri are generally thought of as unattractive as far as geos go. Not by me I think they are awesome!!

Jeff Rapps has some wild caught Geos available now at www.tangeldupincichlids.com. You could be sure to get good coloration with those wild specimens.......
