The fry have been freeswimming for a few days now, and the female took to leading them around the tank this morning. There appear to be about 30 fry right now, and the female is very careful to monitor the male's whereabouts, and chase him away from the fry.
What is a practical way to deliver food particles to the fry?
I just put a beefheart mixture cube near them, and when the female took a bite of it, particles floated around for the fry to eat. Some of them were even nibbling on the large cube. Pretty impressive if you ask me. Several times I have seen her take food in her mouth, and then spit it out in small pieces where her fry are. I don't know if this is mere coincidence, or if she is intentionally trying to feed her young.
