View Full Version : WHAT IS THIS? mix? convict? help!

this is not my fish, but my fish's body is a lil more compacted and stuff more like a normal convict... i have no idea what this is. but my fish is prtty small, and i have had it for like 5 months or so, and it hasent grown either ( 1.5''). mine has the same color, jus better, more colorful and stuff... what is this.. please help and thanks so much!!

thanks, my girlfriend thought it wasent even a convict. but thanks alot....
can i get a male for it, so they can breed??
and are the males have the white stripes?

The males are pretty much the same except they dont have the yellow or orange on their bellies (side) or fins. Larger male convicts usually develop humps on their forheads also.
Convicts are very easy to breed.

ok. i guess i had a female convict... bcuz it looks like that but alot nicer.. i moved the convict from the 45g tank to the 30g tank, where it was before... i went to the store and bought a black convict ( male ) i believe... i want them to breed.. =)
the first 4 days the bigger female was chasing the other convict, which i hope it is a male... yesterday i noticed they were swimming together, and rubbing boddies and spinning in circles, and not fighting anymore... what does that mean? signs of breeding??
also... the female is moving rocks with her head and kinda making a pit/ or hole in the front right corner....

sounds like your gonna have a lot of convicts on your hands to me...
