Ok so i'm almost done staocking my tank, jsut a few more fish to get and i'm done.Tell me what you think. It is a 90gal tank with 1 AC 500 and 1 AC 300 for filtration.I have plenty of rock work towards the back with lots of caves. Here are the fish:

1 female sulfurhead peacock(male and other female died)
1 male eureka red peacock
1 female taiwan reef
1 male red empress
1 hap electra
3 Lab. pearlmutt(1m/2f)
1 rusty

I'm going to be adding a violet pleco(L77) and a male taiwan reef, maybe soem more peacocks(1 more male and some females, don't know what species). I'm also thinking of myabe getting syno. eupterus.

How many more fish can i add to the ones i already own?So far i have 9. My fish club is having an auction in april and i want to know how mayn more i can get,its hard for me to tell since they are all small(2")

This is always a tricky question. Your filtration sounds adequate for that size tank, but the question is, how many fish do you want to keep?
The list you have now sounds good. I would add trios though if I could; like 1 male to 2 (or 3 even) females. That would pretty much fully stock the tank and keep it stocked if the fish spawn.

Just my opinion.:)

yeah i thik i'm jsut going to add more male and females of each species.I'm thinking maybe having a total of about 15 fish total when i'm done plus the pleco and syno(or maybe clown loaches).

the red empress and the taiwan reef are the same genus(protomelas) and look kind of similar--you might be better off choosing one or the other.

well i already have the male red empress and a female taiwan reef. So i was jsut going to try and get another male for the female taiwan reef.

Those peacocks are going to cross breed you know.

yes i know they will cross breed, but right now my female sulphur head died yesterday. I'm going to see if i can get some feamle eurekas. If they breed i won't sell the babies, and most would be eaten by the other fish and syno.

I already had soem fry born and they were all eaten right away.

Hi folks,

Not to sound dumb or anything, but when you say sulphur head are you referring to an Otopharynx lithobates yellow blaze?

I know I was in a lfs a couple of weeks ago and I saw a ?sulphur head hap, If that is it; what genus/species is it?

Also IMO I would go for the Syn multi or brichardi.

Personnaly I think you have a lot of room to play with. I have a 125 and have a mixed Hap tank, mostly males. I would say with the scavengers I have 2 multis and 1 eupterus, and a five inch pleco; that I have about 25 fish both adult/subadult. I recentley added a medium sized Venustus and a sub-adult Fusco. I think I am maxed out at this point especially when the Fusco grows out, and the Venustus. I do have massive filtration though.

If it's in you budget, add more turn-over to your tank.

It's a good idea to get all your additions at the fish auction, as the introduction of many fish at one time to an existing tank will lessen the aggression that you are bound to face.

Also I bought what was called a sunshine peacock, it looks like an albino reuben red, but is yellow. I have a male Albino red and thought the addition of the female sunshine would be interesting.

Have you seen the Sunshines for sale anywhere?; to me they are quite new.

Thank you,

Matthew

the sulphur head peacock i am refering to is A. maylandi, but she died a few days ago(still can't figure it out).

I'm thinking for either adding clown loaches or the syno. eupterus. I like the syno.eupterus because it gets a decent size, i can get it for cheap(5$) and they dont' need to school. All the other synos in my area cost 25-30$can each and are only about 1". I also really like the clowns and might decide to get 3 instead of the syno.

I'm getting a few yellow labs tomorrow from a lady in teh paper whos sellign them for 2$ for 2" ones.Might get about 3-4.

I can't wait for the club auction,Ive never been before.
