Extraordinary tank, Clubber! One of my favorite mbunas is elongatus "chewere"- it's the first thing that I noticed. Well done.

Do you have a close-up picture of your Elongatus chewere? I thought it looks like elongatus chailosi.

The chewere is the guy in the middle 1st pic, looks good but small in the pic. Similar shape but different color & barring shape, Chewere should have sort of a blue diamond pattern. A friend keeps both of them, awesome fish. He also has some Elongatus Mpanga, those are some awesome fish! I am going to get some once he gets them going. They are small and already breeding.

Clubber, the tank looks good. Plenty of caves, and I like the sand.

Not a great shot, but here it is:

The diamonds are not so defined. I'm hoping his markings improve as he grows, but not counting on it.

What kind of rocks do you have in there and where did you get them? They look awesome. Do they allow a lot of space for the fish to swim through?

The rocks are lace rock. I believe they are similar to lava rock. At my LFS it sells for about $1/lb. I like it because it makes lots of interconnected tunnel work and the pieces all fit together like a jigsaw puzzle.

So about how many do you think you have in there? I have one piece of lace rock which actually is a cave (don't know if it naturally looked like that) but I had to remove it because they all fought over it. I mostly have landscaping rocks, lava rock, and tufa rock but want to convert to mostly lace at some point.

That's about 220 lb of rock. Probably about 40-50 pieces.

I have a 75 gallon so I don't think I'd need that much but I'm broke right now and they are expensive and heavy so I will probably start out slow. :)
