Well these are the ideas of what i was considering as of now but if anyone has any suggestions i would appreciate them too. I would also be tryin to breed/raise fry from all the fish that i keep.

20long
1m/2fm leleupi
20high
1m/2fm ocellatus "gold"
45
electric yellows
1m/1fm J.marlieri
55
colony L.multifasciatus
-or-
20long
1m/2fm ocellatus "gold"
55
-1m/2fm leleupi
-eventually 1m/1fm J. marlieri
-electric yellows(i'm getting 15 in a trade and am definately not keeping all of them so could keep any ratio thought to be best, also i know it's mixing lakes but i know electic yellows aren't the most aggressive mbuna either)
45
colony of L.multifasciatus
20high
my pair of kribs and rams(which i'd like to keep)
-OR-
20lng.
1m/2fm leleupi
20high
6 J.marlieri(i will only keep 1pair once they pair off)
55galw/large rockpile in allmost the middle
-small colony of L.multifasciatus on larger side of the pile
-1m/2fm ocellatus "gold" on the smaller side
45gal.
-electric yellow/mbuna tank

So if you can think of a better combination let me know cause i'm not set on anything yet.

Thanks and i appreciate all opinions,

Sounds like you have a good handle on things, you may have to mix and match for a while to see what works.

I notice I'm constantly changing the Tanganyikans around as they mature and pair off, especially in the 55g.
I think all of your combinations would work with the exception of the electric yellows with leleupi, my leleupis gave the electric yellows a hard time in the 125g because of same coloration.

Watch those leleupi. Mine snuck a single spawn in on me. The only reason I ever knew about it was because one of their fry got adopted by my Julis. I thought she was an odd albino juli for the longest time. I've heard that baby leleupi definitely need live baby brine in order to develop the best color (not sure how true that is; heard it in a magazine). I've also heard that the parents aren't the best. My experience seems to confirm that last (only one lived because another pair of fish raised it).

Actually, I had them in a 135g with 2 J. marlieri and tons of their offspring, and a colony of M. exasperatus (I know it's bad to mix Tangs and Malawis) and tons of _their_ offspring. The leleupi seemed to enjoy excavating underneath rocks. I was constantly amazed at Jaw's ability to dig a big enough hole for himself underneath a rock. I did notice some display activity between he and the females but it was always sporadic. Several times, he tore chunks out of the females' tails when tehy tried to get him in the mood! I figured they weren't compatible, but they did manage one spawn that caught me completely by surprise like I already mentioned.

I assume I would have had better luck if I had relocated them into my 55g where they would have had less competition. I don't know, it might have made Jaws less cranky.
