Well, a little over a week ago, I bought four convicts and placed them in a 29 by themselves. After a few days, one convict had developed a bright orange side, and was hanging out with a larger convict. Shortly thereafter, the other two convicts were constantly being harassed and chased. The brightly colored female kept rubbing up against her companion and started doing some serious digging in the sand. I removed the other two convicts, and the female proceeded to dig a rather larger pit in the sand, under some driftwood. It has been four days since then, the female's egg tube is clearly visible, but the other convict seems to have no interest now. What's going on?

They are most likely breeding. In some cases, the male wqill show violence towards the female, so no interest is better than too much, lol. Don't worry, if you have two canvicts in a tank (and it sounds like you have a pair) you will soon have many little babies. I must caution you that you should have another tank fot the babies or the parents, because the father will somtimes eat them!!! :?
