Would a 20long be enough space to have a pair of leleupi and hopefully breed them. I am getting them from a friend of mine that has an online store and his wholesaler said they could sex me out a pair, so should i get a pair or a larger female to male ratio? Thanks

also any past experiences or opinions about leleupi would be appreciated

I think a 20 long would be sufficient for this beautiful breed. Just give em some caves and make sure your substrate is of a light color.
A pair should be all you need. If you go with more, you will need a much larger tank. They are aggresive.
I've not kept any of these, but I can dream.

Let us know how it goes.

I read an article in the FAMA about breeding these. That guy had a 20L with lots of hiding plaxes. I think he kept 2-3 females with one male. He had good luck with that. But, the male I used to have would look really small inside a 20L!

Gee, I must have been in hurry when I posted that last!

I meant that the _tank_ would have looked small with Jaws in it.

"Jaws" (because he was big enough you could see his nice white teeth) was fairly large. I've only seen a couple of leleupi that were larger than he was. He would have made a 20L look small. I'm sure he probably would have been OK in there by himself, but he was pretty aggressive with the two females I had. I'm not sure I could have given them enough bolt holes in a tank that size.

I'd say he was about 4" long with personality and attitude to match.

Like I said, I haven't seen any more than 2 that were his size or larger; smaller individuals would probably do just fine although if they eventually start to get that big, you might have to think about more space if they're all like he was.
