One of my females is FINALLY holding, my red top zebra knocked her up :) I just noticed it today, so when is a good time to remove her from the tank? I actually was planning on cleaning the tank tonight and removing all rocks so it would be easy to get her out then. I have a 29 gallon with 4 little cichlids in it but I have a separator so I was going to keep her in one half of the tank by herself. Does this sound like a good idea?

Also, when she has the babies, should I leave her in her side of the tank with the babies or move her over with the little cichlids on the other side so she can't eat the babies but can still gain her weight back before putting her with the big cichlids?

This is my first time so any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Is the female a red top zebra too? Congratulations, your fishies are happy.

You can probably leave her with the babies for the first 2 or 3 days, then move her to the other side. I've had fry 2 weeks older than new fry eat the new fry, so you don't want to mix the fry until they are big enough.
