Hello has anybody got one of these, or seen one. And are they any good or just a scam?

I saw this at Wal-Mart and looked into it... it makes your tank look pretty but it does nothing for the the fish. I would be worried about going blind, after all red lights are suppose to damage your retina.
Logically it makes little sense. A red light bombarding your fish (it's not an actual laser) and I really don't see it cleaning the water, after all its not UV light which we know is effective. You might as well hook up a "laser" pointer inside your tank. All indications that I have found point to it being a crock... but I have been wrong before.
Any other opinions?

P.S. I can't find any other references to the China Academy of Sciences. Not that I would believe anything I did find, China has no laws to prevent fraud or counterfeiting.
I think i read somewhere that lasers damage only the colour cells. And fish can only see b/w?
