My breeders have gone to cichlid heaven, but I still have 6 of their fry and they look better than their parents. Maybe nobody wants the fry but still like 'em just fine myself.

i like 'em, too...they were my very first vics...i got two females out of a mixed mbuna tank...the lfs didn't know what they were, and i didn't, either, though i suspected that they were vics.

Hey I like 'em!
They are on my alternate Vic list for my 210!!! Nubilis bumped them from the a-list but they may still make the tank!

i was visiting a new (to me) LFS yesterday and they had some latifasciata like that, too. big ones, too.
i like them, too. :)

caught her before she spit! and she was holding about 60 good-sized fry! they are now fattening up in a 10 gal. fry tank. i now have no space for any more fry--everybody else will have to spit in their main tank!
edit: unless the l. rufus or the tanzanian blue and whites spawn...in which case, i will have to FIND some space.

congrats, SGM!
have your rufus ever spawned?
I'm contemplating stripping two of my holding limax. they're so young and are starting to look kinda emaciated... i'll give them another day and then the fry are coming out.

yes, twice, but i was too lazy to break down the tank to get the females out, so they spit in the tank...one fry survived from each spawn, and then i added the neolamprologus marunguensis(pink and blue brichardi death squad), and lost the juvies and all but one of the females. some people never learn.:(

how big is that female latifasciata?
sounds like when i added the helianthus to the elongatus breeding tank.
i have since (mostly) learned to control the "oh look! pretty fish!" reflex at the LFS. mostly. last week when i visited a store, they had some kind of Telmatochromis sp. that took quite a bit of resistance....

about 5 inches nose to tail...some of the other females are even bigger. that tank now contains the latifasciatas, the marunguensis, and some recently acquired young j. marlieri.

sounds like a fun tank!
i'm off to strip some limax. i've decided i don't like the way they look...

it seems that they heard me typing.
i dug a net out of the box o' fish crap, knelt down kill the power and when i looked over, i saw about 15 fry dart back into mom's mouth!
I was expecting no more than 8 or so fry with mom being that small and this being her first time holding, but there were definitely around 15 good looking little limax fry!
Victorian fry get a special banana -

thanks, and on a side note, i came home to a bunch of eggs all over my planted 55--i think that they're corydoras eggs. i removed a few that were on plant leaves, hoping to get them to hatch.

And now one of the chromogynos is holding...

i'm thinking of grabbing a 10g tomorrow....

yeah, i have 3 fry tanks going now, and one of my friends is going to let me farm some of them out to one of her tanks for grow-out.

Help! :nervous:
It's not stopping!
Current count:
3 holding P. chromogynos
2 holding Hap. limax
30 (+/-) fry in grow-out.
And I saw the male limax in his "breeding crevice" (the little hole he crams himself and his female into for the act) before I killled the lights.
Every time I look, there are more! :nervous:

I really should just let it go and leave them on their own like i did with my mbuna, but the chromo male is so spectacular, i feel i should at least try!
