I have read several articles on fish ick, and also on sum treatment such as ick guard, quick cure etc.. from the a few web site for fish deseases, but yet to find out what is the best stuff for it; so I'm turnig to you guys and girls to tell me of your experiences and what you use or would recommend.
Right now Im using Ick Guard and salt tempature @ 82f , yet to see any result, though it's only been 8 hours since I wrote this. The idicated it would usually be successful within 24 hours. :(
I have also read and leaning to towards Maracide for Ick treatments, any coments :?:

lil crab I am moving this to the Clinic where it will get a better response.
Did you take out your carbon while treating with Ick Guard?
IME Quick Cure with no carbon is the best. I had an Ick outbreak 2 days ago and it is already gone. I am still treating the tank for a week more.
If you don't want to take out the carbon you can get away with using Aquarisol.
Also, bring the temp up to 85F this will speed up the life cycle of the parasites making it easier to kill them while they are free swimming. Also, add salt!

Yes, I took out both carbon tea bag from 2 of my aquaclear 300, and I did add salt temp is at 81 - 82 f.
Day 2, seems like thereis some slight improvment, but there are still traces of the Ick; not too sure if I should continue using Ick Guard or do a 25% water change now and try something new like quick cure or maracide. However, it's seem to work better in the 33 gal tank, so far haven't seen any traces of it or maybe I'm not looking close enough.
I have tried aquarisol before for fungus, but it didn't seem to work or it was a long process, not too sure on that, but did lose 4 fishes in the process. So, think I'm gonna avoid using that stuff for now.

By the way thanks Overawed

Sorry to hear of your losses due to fungus. Aquarisol has worked fine for me in regards to fungus and ick.
Quick Cure works the fastest IME.

Well, I'm gonna have to try Quick Cure, because that Jungle Ick guard is like pouring Kool Aid in my tank. Some the original fish that was infected don't seem to be infected anymore, but Ick has move onto other fishes.
That Ick Guard stuff didn't live up to it's promise; to clear Ick in 24 hrs.
I have used a second dose even, and still my tank remain infected.

I think you will be happy with Quick Cure, it is surprisingly fast, just make sure you keep treating the tank for a week after the ick disappears

I have used Cupramine with great success. It is made by Seachem.
It is copper based, and works in a matter of 3 days, but it is suggested you treat for I think 10 days, go to Seachem on the web and have a look.

I'm not familar with that brand, but quick doen't work then I'll have to try it. I have bought 2 bottle of quick cure for my 113gal. tank and have added it in, guess I'll have to wait and see what happens. :?

If you dont have any inverts or live plants you should give Coppersafe a try, i tried salt, ick guard but nothing worked for me untill i used coppersafe.

If you do any wter changes between medication doses, vacuum the gravel. One stage of the parasite lives on the bottom, and you may be able to help control a run-away problem with some vacuuming. It won't cure things by any stretch of the imagination, but if your problem is as bad as you seem to be indicating, every little bit helps.

Considering this topic is nearly a year old, I'd hope that ick is no longer a problem. Watcher dragged up a bunch of ancient posts last night.
