Hello all,

As you guys may or may not know im new to malawis. Anyway i've got malawis. Question is that as with all fish, fins get bitten and the fins which i've noticed mainly get bitten are the tail fin and the fin just under the tail. The fin under the tail has egg spots. Now one of my socolofi's fin with the egg spot has been badly bitten and his egg spot has been bitten off. So (finally) my question is will that egg spot come back to exactly where it was or once the fin has grown back he wont have an egg spot any more or is there no answer to the question? :?:

It doesnt really matter if he has one or not, but i was just curious.

Thanks

DG

The fins and the egg spots should grow back. What do you have that is eatting on a Socolufi? They are pretty aggresive fish. Mine runs my big tank.

While you guys are on the subject of socolofis, can you tell me if you know how to tell a female from a male.

I have an albino with one small egg spot on a rounded fin. The fish is currently about three inches long. Shouldn't I be able to tell already?

Mine is fairly aggressive too, but since it's the only one, it only chases others out of it's turf without actually doing bodily harm. So far...

Hello all,

I have a 125 with Haps and 3 Synodonti, the only Mbuna I have are Ps/Met socolofi, so far they have kept the bickering amongst themselves, do you think it will stay that way? the question is partly rhetorical as no one can see into the future, especially with cichlids, but if you were to hazard a guess, what would you say?

Regards,

Big~I mean Matt

Sorry just hallucinated

My fish's fin is starting to grow back a bit and i can see the edge of the egg spot. Its exactly where it was previously. So i guess you could say that the egg spot is like a finger print? (or am i wrong)
