Parts: roughly $20 US
10 foot roll of poly tubing ID 5/8 OD 3/4
6 hose clamps
2 FT of funny pipe

Cut funny pipe into two pieces.
Using heat, I used a lighter, work a bend in the pipe until you get a fairly tight turn. Set in a manner that the bend holds and sets.

Cut poly to length so that it just hits the top of the aquarium from the top of the fluval.
Slip off the fluval nuts on the quick release, slip a hose clamp in it's place and work the poly tubing on the quick release. Slide the hose clamp so that it is covering teh rib on the quick release and tighten hose clamp funtil it is snug. <<Don't crush the quick release.>>

Take other ends of poly tubing and your funny pipe, work the funny pipe two inches into the poly tubing now slip two hose clamps on the hose. You want to tighten them down snuggly over where the funny pipe ends in the poly and where the poly ends on the funny pipe. Repeat for the other poly tube.

Now you need to cut a portion of the poly tubes to drop into your tank for the output and input ends when you get the height right just work teh poly onto the funny and slip you ends on. The intake end has a little pipe that goes into the poly and the cage fits on it, make sure to include the little pipe in your calculations.

Good job. Did you get sick of the ribbed hose? Or did it crack?

I rigged up my 2 fbf's in series afetr one of my Fluval's, also with clear tube. It surprisingly hasn't algead up yet, which I thought it might.

Those ribbed tubes on the new design collect mucho crapo :D

That's what I think of the ribbed crud didn't crack yet I just wanted a tube I could clean easily.

Extra beneffit of the tubing change was increased flow to the tune of about 10%.
