So, I'm bored, I'm looking at moving across the country next summer, and I feel the need for a larger fish tank. Sounds like the perfect combination for some new tank planning.
I want to put together an all-Malawi 125g tank. I want both males and females, but no cross-breeding. I love fish with very bold stripes - color is less important than contrast. Although I must admit to being partial to my yellow lab. I'd like to get as many different kinds of fish as I can without the hybridization problem.
Go wild - what should I put in the tank?

well, i'd start with the Mylochromis sp. "Colourflame - Mandalawi"--i love the colors. you sure you don't want any vics in there? i really think that mixing lakes is the best way to avoid hybridizing. where you thinking of moving to?

I'm a perfectionist - I'd rather have water conditions perfect for one set of fish than pretty good for two. Then again, perhaps I'm carrying it a bit far! :)
I'm looking at going to Penn State (university park campus) next year for my M.S. and Ph.D.

Oh, and the colourflames are nice, but I really prefer things more along the lines of Metriaclima sp. "Deep water" (on the same page). I love the contrast with their stripes.

Chennes, I'll give ya an idea on what I'm keeping. Alot of people would say what a waste of space because my 125 is pretty thin right now.
But it seems to be working  .

Boilermaker- I'm not too concerned about having a "sparse" looking tank - I don't want to get into the overcrowding thing, so I expect it to be a little on the thin side.
SGM - Patience, my dear, patience! :)
