Just received a new Odyssea 48" compact fluorescent, dual day/actinic light. I bought this for the 55 salt tank Im putting together but since the live rock is so darn expensive, and there is no way I could leave it in the box, I put it on our malawi tank.

Are you supposed to use the actinic and day lights at the same time? This thing has lunar LED's on it so those are for night time, correct?

Hey Steve,
Is this the same light you bought?

Ebay item number 7714147191

Is this a good light to buy for 70 gal tank? Are you happy with the light?

Hey dave, that link didn't work...but I love the light. Don't bid on it from ebay, I'll get you the webpage I found it for even cheaper. You can get the 48" for about $90.

Steve I have the same one. I have no complains except that the fans start making a humming noise after a while. I went over all the screws and made sure that everything was tight, that seems to solve the problem.
I paid 120 shipped for mine 4 months ago.

Thanks, I just ordered it. It ended up being the same price as the one on Ebay after SH.

Bazz...really? What did they charge for shipping? Was it as much with shipping as the one on ebay would have been with shipping?

Aquatrader wanted $79.90 (light)+ $19.90 (deluxe ver, includes 4 LEDs and feet) + 24.72 SH= 124.52

Ebay seller had a Buy It Now of $99.99 (light including feet and 4 LEDs) + $19.95 SH = $119.94. Ebay seller included free tubes with no warranty against tube breakage, although he did offer to sell replacement tubes at a discount if they arrived broken.

I paid the extra $5 to buy from a store and use my credit card.

I suggest using the blue threadlock. It can be losened up with heat if the screw needs to be removed at a later date. Hold a solding iron against t he head of the screw and work quickly to remove it. The red threadlock is permanent.

Sorry Dave, I thought it would be cheaper. Did you buy from fishman? If so he has auctions now where he guaruntees bulbs.
