View Full Version : Half black red devil
I found a rd at a fish store up here that is have black and speckled throughout. Listed as a labiatus, I am not sure on that the thing intrigues me. I have seen them younger than that with black markings but this guys is 5-6 inches. Is this some sort of a cross?
One other noticable feature is that it has almost a line down its eye. Really cool looking fish.
Any ideas?
I guess I should have posted this in the id section.
That can very definitely be a full blooded labiatus. There are many wild caught that have varying amounts of black on them.
Uh oh. Now I need another tank. I can't pass this thing up can I.
What about the line in the eye?
No problem there either. Often their eyes will be half black and half red. Sometimes they'll be a mix of black and other colors like gold or yellow. Soetimes the eyes will be all black.
Sounds like a good opportunity to pick up a cool fish. I'd jump on it if I were you!
Make sure to post pictures!
I went down to get it today and it has Ick as they had a breakout in a lot of their tanks. They are holding it for me so I have a week to rearrange.
I am happy to say he survived the ich break out and he is in my tank effective today. Lots of black on this guy almost half, so I am hoping he is a good one. Better news I picked him up while the store was having a renovation sale so I got the thing for 50% off. 8.49
