Hi, where in australia do you live, im from melbourne. Theres a LFS near me that has a 10X4X4 tank with about 4 salmon cats. They also have one massive red-tailed cat and about 4 tinfoil barbs. I also love their shape and have read up on them a bit, there's no a heap of info on them though. Once mature actually prefer and in some circumstances require brackish water. I have heard once mature they can be kept with large monos, scats and acherfish. They arn't overly agressive for there size and another LFS has one (ft long) with oscars, convicts, jaguars, silver dollars, and mpore (cant remember), this fish stayed to itself and didn't bother anyone.
Good luck with your massive massive tank, and i want your tank.

Sorry to answer some of your questions
the silver dollars would be okay, the balas would prob be okay as long as they remained as big as the cat. Your angels would not be okay. Not sure about the tandanus since they both incorperate the same region of the tank it could be a problem, but then again in that size tank you may be alright.
P.s. i forgot to mention they are best kept in groups of 3+

ok not far from me im in mill park. Yer i have found salmon cats quite rare at times to, there is another cat, quite similar that grows a bit smaller called Arius berneyi or Berneyi Catfish that is fairly common.
There is a shop in Glen Waverly that is pretty good they are very good with saltwater too. I actually am good friends with the owners of a petstore near me. There fish range is poor but i did work experiance there and I order my fish through them and get them at wholesale price. The wholesalers is in Epping and called Aquarium Industries. Other than that I only really go to aquarium shops to look at fish and buy equipment. There is a good shop in Diamond Creek, one in corburg (massive but expensive), nice one i lalor i go to often called rick's aquarium.
Rick's is the cheapest and then Diamo.
Ggot any pics of your tank? Whered you get it?

i got it for a 1000 from bunarong aquarium in frankston its good there.... have no picks of tank yet i get it next week.... do u know where i could get a life like skeleton???? i reckon it would look sick in a tank..... thats sweet as u gettin fish at wholesale price...i want to get a saratoga but all to expensive i need one bout 20cm long so the samon cats dont go it.... i been to ricks thats a nice aquarium but ur right a bit pricey.... will give ya a pick once it up and running.... the 1000 for the tank includes a nice cabinet and an extra 150 for hood unstained... still cheap as i shopped around first..... thanks again bmxer_100

Thats sweet, Are you placing it on a concrete slab? The biggest tank I am getting is only a 5ft x 14" x 18". My parents reckon much bigger would fall through the (wood) floor.
My wholesalers has 25cm Gulf Saratoga's for aboiut 150.
The shop in Glen Waverly has one about 20cm that looks really nice but i don't know how much it is.
Cant wait to see the pics.
P.S Can you send me an e-mail with the aquarium shop where you got your tank from via e-mail. bmxer_100@hotmail.com
Thanks!
