So, I have the new tank set up for the Haplichromis limax.
I found the camera, but I haven't found where I packed the memory sticks. You would think I would have packed them with the camera, but moving time has a logic all its own. Long story short, can't take pics yet, so you'll have to use your imaginations.
I got sand from the beach. Took me all day Sunday to clean/disinfect/rinse/rinse more/rinse more/rinse more. But it's done. It's nice and dark and will look good. Then I used some narrow pieces of rock to build up one end of the tank like a terrace, so that the sand is about 3/4" higher there than in the rest of the tank. I scattered a few rocks about, but I haven't really rocked up the tank up like I would for other Vics or mbuna. There are plently of hiding spaces, but just no where near my usual amount of rockophilia.
So....
What little i've been able to gleen from the internet about the future inhabitants says that they prefer less rock, more open space and that plants are a good thing.
I don't think that anyone here has first hand experience with them, right? Should I go ahead and plant the tank? I don't like plants, but I think they might help.
Any feedback/ideas? I realize it's hard w/out a picture, so I'll try to discover what i did with those memory sticks... In the meantime, any feedback is welcome!
