Hi, I been hearing alot about breeding chiclid. I have a 300Gallon tank and only have chiclid. I been buying ton and tons of chiclid. they are all mainly 2" and 4". I have several hundreds of them (250 at least). How old or how big should they get until they breed? I have a big pump to filter out the tank and my water is always clean, should I change out 20 - 30% of water once a week for them to breed? Do I just dump new water in without any kind of chemical? I'm still a noobie to fishtank so please help me?

LOL, it sounds like you need to stop frequenting your lfs so often. What kind of cichlids are you keeping? Most people here will say a 20% water change every week is essential, no matter what. When you fill the tank back up, be sure to add whatever chemicals are needed to make the water safe for the fish. The chlorine in the water is bad for the fish and will kill them. Also, make sure the water temp is the same or close to what is in the tank. Any temperature changes in the tank will stress your fish, making them more likely to catch a disease.

Cool. Well I got like frontosa, all type of cocktail, ummm I dunno, all the cool looking one I guess. I never keep track of the name. I call them little dudes. Anyway, my temp is always at 80 degree. Is that good?

I think you should consider changing your name to "IsellALLfish".

Yea it sounds like you have a few too many fish. if i were you i would try to identify all of the fish in order to make it possible to keep some of them for the long run. although it is a 300g and the fish are small they will grow and probably end up killing eachother over territories. 250 fish is a lot of fish. hope you take this advice as well as Rex's.

Yea true. I have seen these fish tries to fight for part of the rocks in the tank. I brought half of the fish the first time and it wasn't enough so I went back to the fish store and went fish buying crazy. The last time I tried catching the parrot chiclid out, it took me like 30 - 40 mins. Thats with 3 pair of hands trying to lure him to a corner. That fish didn't seem to change color. I like the way it look now so I think I'm gonna keep it like that until they get big so I can catch them easier. I will start changing 20% of the water at least once a week. Thanks alot guys. Hope I will have time to go home and take a pic of it so I can post it up here. Lates
