do you mind the sound of trickling water? Penguin 330 is a very nice filter, Mellinium 3000 is a nice filter its a bit loud when the air valve is open but its real quit when there turned off, also the AquaClear 30-60 i believe it is , is very nice, they all make some sound or another, if your a real light sleeper you may want to keep the tank in another room, Me personaly love the sound of a working aquarium its good therapy.these are all hange on power filters, i dont know a damn thing about UGF's or the very expensive Canister filters.
I would go with an aquaclear. The water fall sound puts me to sleep at night.

Since you don't have the tank yet,.. you should go with a 60 or 75g atleast. The extra width is important.

I own all of the filters already mentioned and I am an extremely light sleeper. The quietest filter I have is the fluval404 on my 55g that's in my bedroom. The water returns beneath the water line so there's no trickle sound. The previous filter on that tank was an Emperor and it was way too noisy for me.

I have a penn plax 300 filter and an emperor 400 filter on my 65 gallon. They do a great job and make no noise other than the water trickling.
