is it possible to make your own fish tank ornaments out of clay, and fire them in a kiln.

i would say you could, but would suggest that you check to make sure that any glaze that you use would not leach any metals into the water.

***Yes... due to the nature of fireing, i don't think it's possible for the glaze to leach (it literally turns it into a coating of glass), but you have to be carefull that the object is Completely Coated[/u:ecc3d55c64] with glaze (inside too if there is one) otherwise the exposed ceramic will absorb the water and cause it to break, chip, or the glaze will flake off. most paint your own pottery places use non-toxic glazes, so there shouldn't be a problem with any toxins (and again, after being fired it shouldn't matter anyway), but you might stay away from the highly toxic ones (lead, cadmium, mercury, etc..., it will say on the label how safe it is).
