View Full Version : Bleekeri Issues

My male bleekeri is incredibly intolerant of the female. The thing will not let it go. I had him in a 66 with some africans to get his mind off the female, however that did not work as he would literally beat on the female all day and she could never come out of the pvc pipe.

I now have them in a 187 with some other smaller Americans and it has almost worsened the issue. Tonight I heard splashing to find the female half dead in the top corner. He has no interest in any other fish but the female. I have basically just given up trying to breed them as the female is very quick to eat the eggs when they lay them.

I now have her in a 10 gallon healing. I may stick her in with my oscar as. Apparently dividers do not work very well breeding these guys. Anybody have any other suggestions?

Well the egg eating and wife beating seems to be pretty common for paratilapia...Its a wonder how they breed in the wild lol.

I would try finding 3 or 4 more females to spread out the aggression
